In the Shadow of Croft Towers by Abigail Wilson

Sybil Delafield never guessed this would be the way her new position, as companion to the elderly Mrs. Chalcroft, would begin. On the trip there the coach was robbed by highwaymen, she arrived at Croft Towers dripping wet, and Mrs. Chalcroft implores her to relay secret letters to town that are to stay hidden from the rest of the family. She is unsure what the letters contain. And she does not know who in the family she can trust. As everyone seems to have secrets of their own.
But when the other passengers of the robbed coach end up murdered, Sybil's hunt for the truth takes on a whole new urgency. The only person it seems she can rely on is Mr. Sinclair, Mrs. Chalcroft's godson, but he too seems to lead a double life.

I love books that have a good mystery with a lot of surprising twists and turns. And this book is the best one I have read in a long time! I do wish that I could have gotten to know Sybil and what she had been through more in the beginning of the book. As I think it would have helped me relate to her earlier on in the story. But even with that it was a very enjoyable book. It got so exciting I was hardly able to put the book down, and I had to stay up until all hours of the night to finish it!
