Spring may be getting close, but yesterday winter made a comeback around here! StormE, our ram, did not seem to mind the snow. And it was a really lovely morning. Well, unless you include the chickens... those poor things normally hate the snow big time. I think they want their pen snow shoveled...

Lamb Time

StormE the lamb has been busy growing bigger and getting more spoiled. It is amazing how fast they grow up! The picture above was taken back on 5-19-21, and the picture below was taken yesterday on 7-1-21.

StormE The Lamb

Meet one of our newest additions, StormE the lamb! He was born on April 28th, and is a Dorper/Katahdin mix. He is doing really well, and he is just so cute and sweet.

Shetland Sheep Rooing

I always find it amazing how different our sheep look after we remove their wool coats. But thankfully because they are Shetlands we do not need to clip their wool like normal sheep breeds. The Shetland sheep grow wonderful wool and we are able to just "pull the wool off" every spring by hand rooing them!   This spring I had to get a before and after photo of the Shetland sheep around rooing time! As you can see the sheep on the far right was the only one done with rooing at the time the picture was taken.  

A New Shetland Sheep

We recently got a new Shetland wether! He has lovely gray wool that I can not wait to use come spring! He is getting along well with my other sheep and they all make such a cute little flock. The top photo is of the new Shetland, and the bottom photo is of some of my other sheep with the new Shetland.

French Angoras and Shetlands

The past few days I have been working on building some new wire rabbit cages. I am glad they are almost done, because we have been running short on cages and I am going to be needing them soon. I am planning on picking up some new French Angora Rabbits to add to my breeding program! One is a lovely black female and the other is a beautiful lilac male! Plus I am also planning on picking up 2 wonderful Shetland wethers from the same lady. I am really excited to get the pair of sheep and get their wool this coming spring!

My sheep Jade

This is my sheep named Jade! She is a kind of sheep that can lose her wool in spring all by herself! And I think that is what she is doing in the photos. :)
