With the threats that followed the death of her husband, Cordelia Greythorne fled Cornwall and accepted a governess position to begin a new life. But after a few years events arise that take her, and the children she cares for, dangerously close to where she came from. But she can not abandon the children now that they have lost both parents. Even if their new guardian lives at the timeworn Penwythe Hall, which is very close to the place she fled years earlier.

Jac Twethewey is determined to revive Penwythe Hall’s old apple orchards and make his struggling estate profitable again. But Jac was not on the best of terms with his brother in recent years, so when his nieces and nephews suddenly show up with their governess unannounced he knows something must be wrong.

This was another wonderful book by Sarah E. Ladd! It had a good plot, and the story line went along at a great pace. I loved the mystery she threaded into the story, and the surprises along the way kept me turning pages for hours.

The characters were also nicely done, and the settings felt very real. I love books that draw you into their world, add a dash of adventure and mystery, and make you feel apart of a historical era gone by. It was a great book and I highly recommend it!

I received this book free from the publisher, Thomas Nelson, through the BookLook Bloggers book review program. The opinions are my own.
Although to be honest I feel like I should add that the free ebook they sent me was unusable. And sadly customer service was not able to help me, so I was forced to wait until I could get a paperback copy from my local library. Which would not be a bad thing, I love going to the library. But with the waiting list at the library it barely left me enough time to read the book, because of the deadline BookLook gave me for posting my review.
