A Stranger at Fellsworth by Sarah E. Ladd

Wednesday, June 21, 2017

With the fallout from her deceased father’s financial ruin, Annabelle has very few prospects left. And to make matters worse she remains at the mercy of her controlling brother. Annabelle soon realizes that her only hope is to run away to Fellsworth, where her estranged uncle is the school’s superintendent. Upon arrival Annabelle begins to learn about a different way of life. For the first time she must work for a living. And learn to live without all of her past luxuries. She is hoping to find safety from her past, and the love of a family. But when danger comes she may be forced to leave again, this time forever.

This was the 3rd book in the Treasures of Surrey series. But it could easily be read as a stand alone novel. It was written very nicely, and I loved the characters. Annablle's problems felt very real and it was easy to connect with her and the other characters. And I loved the bits of mystery that were woven through the story. While reading it I thought it might have been a little slower than some of Sarah Ladd's other books. But it was a wonderful story and it had an exciting conclusion!

I received this book free from the publisher, Thomas Nelson,  through the BookLook Bloggers book review program. The opinions are my own.
