The Love Letter by Rachel Hauck

There are really two stories in this book. The modern story of Chloe Daschle and Jesse Gates, and the historical story of Esther Longfellow and Hamilton Lightfoot. Even though the stories are separated by hundreds of years, there are unbelievably amazing things that tie them together.

Actress Chloe Daschle has never gotten the happily-ever-after she has always dreamed of. In real life or in the movies. Sadly she is most well known for her convincing death scenes. So when she learns of the script to an epic love story written by Jesse Gates. She decided she must try for the leading role of Esther. The script based on a moving love letter from Jesse's colonial ancestor, Hamilton Lightfoot to Esther. And what a story they had!

I love the way you get to go back and forth to read the past and present stories in this book. Even though Chloe and Jesse don't know fully what happened with Jesse's ancestor, you get to see what really happened. Which I really enjoyed!
But even though I can really relate to Chloe, I sometimes felt like she had a one tracked mind. And in Esther and Hamilto's story one of the characters (an aunt) seemed to flip flop on her options kind of fast. But I know the historical story was covering a lot of time quickly.
But even with all of that, I really enjoyed this book. Part way through the story it got to the point I had a hard time putting it down!

I received this book free from the publisher, Thomas Nelson,  through the BookLook Bloggers book review program. The opinions are my own.
