Today we have a guest post with April at Skeino! Read on to find out more about their great
company and trends for 2018.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi everyone!  This is April with Skeino.  I’m so excited to write a guest post for Anne.  A little about
our company, and then onto 2018 trends!
Skeino is a hand-painted yarn company.  We specialize in beautiful colors and high-quality
yarns from Germany.  Each colorway is hand chosen to match with our unique patterns.
From beginner to advanced we have something for everyone.  These are kits you won’t
find anywhere else!
It can be a little perplexing trying to predict trends in crafting, but I’ll focus on what we see for this year.
Hygge Knitting
Hygge knitting was a trend we started to see late last year, and it is something that we see continuing
into 2018!  Hygge is a Danish word referring to feelings of comfort, coziness, and happiness. In the yarn
world this translates into bulky, oversized, comfortable pieces.  Large sweaters, arm knit blankets, and the
like are instant gratification projects. The trend in fibers is leaning towards luxury – yarns that are soft,
with an elegant drape, and beautiful to work with.
Yoke Sweaters
Caitlin Hunter of Boyland Knitworks took the yoke sweater to new heights earlier this year.  With
beautiful lace and colorwork, this style sweater allows you to show off your personality in a variety
of ways.  It allows for the unexpected in a very timeless sweater shape.
Advanced techniques
We are starting to see more advanced colorwork techniques, from fades to fair isle and intarsia
styles, in sweaters, shawls and wraps.  The use of multiple colorways and yarn designs such as
speckles, ombre, and self-striping yarns, in one piece allows us to individualize patterns that
everyone is making.
Kits
Curated kits which include a pattern and all the yarn to complete it, are gaining momentum.  As
knitters, sometimes we are hindered by our own creativity. We see all the possibilities in a pattern
but have a block when it comes to the type of yarn or colors to use; or we fall in love with the yarn
with no idea about what to make with it.  Companies, like SKEINO, pull together amazing patterns
and stunning colorways to take the guess work out of knitting.
So, what trends are you going to follow this year?
