Terri Roberts life seemed to be going well. She was happily married, had a good career, and was the mother to 4 grown sons. But in the fall of 2006 her oldest son went to a Amish schoolhouse and shot ten girls, killing five of them, before taking his own life. Forgiven is a book about his mother, and how with her faith and close friends she pulled through all the terrible things that happened. She shares her journey and her amazing experience of grace and forgiveness at the hands of the Amish community.

I do not normally read very many nonfiction/autobiography type books. Because it can be really hard for me to find a good one that does not leave me feeling worse at the ending than before I started reading it. But I am really glad I tried this book! Even though Terri went through a very hard time with the death of the Amish school girls, and also losing her own son because of the acts he committed. It was amazing to see how the Amish responded with such kindness and forgiveness. The writing in this book was wonderfully done. It was like getting a peek into the life of Terri Roberts, and seeing how she pulled through everything that happened. Even though she did not have a easy life, it was inspiring to see the way Terri's faith helped her through all the storms in her life.

I received this book free from Bethany House Publishers for my honest review. The opinions are my own.
